3 Steps to Home Detox
3 Steps for Home Detox
It always seems as if it was only yesterday when you cleaned up. Each of our cosy little dens turns into a heinous collection of dust and dirt in the blink of an eye, and it always appears that the time to do a thorough cleanup slips right out of our grasp.
All of this turns your household into a sponge for toxins that can come either from dirt or from (paradoxically) cleaning chemicals. Here are 3 easy steps to follow if you want to detox your home on a tight schedule.
1. Start off with cleaning products
Before you even start detoxing your home, you have to make sure that the chemicals you intend to use follow all the safety regulations. There are a lot of cleaning solutions out there that mix up strong compounds for the most effective cleaning, but most effective for dirt often equals the most toxic for humans.
These products can lead to a plethora of health issues, so their cleaning potency is never worth it. Thankfully, there is an entire thriving industry of green products that will cost an extra buck but will not lead to sore eyes and suffocating chemical smells. Using these products, you can even encourage your kids to help you with cleaning.
You’ll usually find them grouped on special shelves in general stores and they often include safe cleaning chemicals like vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda.
2. Encourage the air flow
Did you know it’s healthier to stroll down the sidewalk of a car-busy street than to spend a day in the sealed-off apartment? By closing all your windows and terrace doors you are not isolating yourself from the smoggy exterior, you are just breathing in the same stale air that is getting jam-packed with various interior toxins.
This all goes without mentioning the build-up of radon gas that is an inescapable part of every living space since it occurs naturally in the ground beneath your household’s foundation. You are much better off with your windows open or at least cracked open. You can also call air-purifying plants to the rescue. They are easy to manage and contribute to the air quality of your home, as they produce oxygen.
3. Filter your water
Water is the source of all life. What your household direly needs, therefore, is a safe source of clean water. Believe it or not, you’ll find the answer in your tap, but only after you’ve installed a safe UV home water treatment solution that will remove all the harmful bacteria from your water.
The major upside is you don’t have to spend so much money on bottled water and you’ll have an odourless and fitting “spring” in your very kitchen.
It’s really hard to keep track of all the toxins that plague our environment. Some of them are man-made and some we just can’t control. No matter how it turns out, it’s in your best interest to keep your home as clean as possible and find the most effective ways to get rid of toxins. Your little kingdom is, after all, your responsibility.
